La leyenda del City Yaya Touré forma parte de los nuevos quince nominados a entrar a formar parte del Hall of Fame de la Premier League.

Los aficionados de todo del mundo pueden aportar sus votos para decidir los tres nuevos jugadores que se unirán a los técnicos Sir Alex Ferguson y Arsène Wenger, primeros nombres que han entrado en el Salón de la Fama este 2023.

Los tres miembros se decidirán mediante una combinación del voto público, junto con los votos del panel de premios de la Premier League y los miembros que ya forman parte del Hall of Fame.

Yaya Touré fue una figura fundamental en los éxitos del City durante su etapa de ocho años desde su llegada procedente del Barcelona en 2010.

Yaya sumó 316 partidos y anotó 82 goles con el City.

Muchos de estos goles fueron vitales en los éxitos del Club, como los logrados en la semifinal de la FA Cup de 2011 ante el Manchester United y en la final ante el Stoke City que puso años a 35 años de espera del City para levantar un título.

Yaya Touré también fue determinante en las dos Premier Leagues ganadas en 2012 y 2014, con actuaciones memorables como sus dos goles en Newcastle en la penúltima jornada de 2012 o la espectacular cifra de 24 logrados camino al título de 2014.

And he also lit up Wembley with a stunning strike against Sunderland in our 2014 League Cup final triumph.

All told, Yaya won three Premier League titles, three League Cups, an FA Cup and Community Shield in his time at the Club.

Also included amongst the nominees is another player who spent time at City during his illustrious career – Andrew Cole.

The former England forward amassed 23 appearances for the Club in the 2005/06 campaign, scoring 10 goals.

Voting is open until 18.00BST on Monday 10 April, with the three inductees to be announced on Monday, May 3.

Today’s short-list followed the latest two inductees into the Hall of Fame – former Arsenal boss Wenger and former Manchester United manager Ferguson - who were announced yesterday.

City icons Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero were both amongst the 2022 inductees alongside Wayne Rooney, Didier Drogba, Paul Scholes, Ian Wright together with Patrick Vieira and Peter Schmeichel, who both also represented City across the course of their distinguished careers.

They joined Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer, David Beckham, Dennis Bergkamp, Eric Cantona, Steven Gerrard, Roy Keane and fellow ex-City midfielder Frank Lampard who were all inducted in 2021.

The shortlist was compiled by the Premier League based on the career statistics of players who meet the Hall of Fame selection criteria.

The career statistics analysed include the number of appearances, goals, assists, clean sheets and individual and team honours.
