Bayer Leverkusen were dealt a blow in training on Tuesday when key midfielder Granit Xhaka was forced to pull out with an ankle injury.
Fortunately for the German champions, initial examinations have revealed that there is no serious injury, according to Kicker.
However, it's doubtful that the 32-year-old will be fit for Leverkusen's first competitive game of 2025 against Borussia Dortmund on Friday, with his availability dependent on how the pain and swelling develop over the next few days.
Xhaka has played every minute for Die Werkself so far in the Bundesliga this season.
The game takes place at the Signal Iduna Park on Friday at 20:30 CET.
