Xavi Simons nearing London move: transfer bid submitted towards RB Leipzig asking price

Tottenham Hotspur have taken the first major step in their battle for Xavi Simons. Sky Sports’ German branch reports that the London club, who are vying with Chelsea for the Dutchman’s signature, have submitted a bid of nearly €70 million.

RB Leipzig appear to be targeting a similar fee, increasing the likelihood that Simons will leave Die Roten Bullen after two years. Chelsea haven’t yet submitted a bid and will therefore have to dig deep to come up with an attractive fee. Simons’ market value is also estimated at around €70 million.

The Dutchman was acquired by Leipzig for €50 million in early 2025 after an initial loan spell. Last season, the attacking midfielder scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in 25 Bundesliga matches. Simons is under contract with Leipzig until 2027.
