New Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso boasts a strong appreciation for the talents of a player oft overlooked when it comes to the star performers in Spain’s capital.

That’s according to Marca, who point towards Brahim Díaz as the player in question.

The name of versatile attacker Brahim has of course emerged as a prominent one in the headlines surrounding Real Madrid over the last 24 hours.

This comes after confirmation was forthcoming that the Moroccan international has agreed on the terms of a contract extension with Los Blancos.

Brahim, who racked up six goals and seven assists last season, was due to see his previous terms expire in the summer of 2027.

And if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then Xabi Alonso likely played a central role in the decision to renew the former AC Milan star’s deal.

As per a report from Marca:

‘Xabi Alonso is fond of the player. His football has convinced both Real Madrid’s management and Alonso, who sees a player profile that is not available in the current squad.’
