Incoming Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has sent a request the way of the club’s board, regarding the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who has on Tuesday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.
Tactician Alonso and defender Alexander-Arnold are of course set to unite at Real Madrid this summer.
The former is primed to replace Carlo Ancelotti on the bench at the Santiago Bernabéu, with Alexander-Arnold having agreed on the terms of a pre-contract with Los Blancos.
As things stand, the latter will only be at the disposal of his new manager for pre-season, due to miss the Club World Cup owing to his remaining contract terms with Liverpool.
If the latest word stemming from the media on Tuesday is anything to go by, though, then Xabi Alonso appears eager for this situation to be addressed at the earliest opportunity.
As per the aforementioned Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish tactician wants Alexander-Arnold available for selection at the Club World Cup.
Florentino Pérez and co. are therefore actively working behind the scenes to find an agreement with Liverpool, over fast tracking the Englishman’s arrival.
