Xabi Alonso responds to Barcelona president Joan Laporta’s Real Madrid comments | OneFootball

Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso was on Thursday drawn on the recent comments laid out by Barcelona president Joan Laporta regarding the capital giants.

For those not aware, Barcelona’s boardroom leader turned heads across Spain with a round of quotes on Wednesday.

As much saw Laporta, during an appearance on the Blaugrana-based podcast La Llotja del 125, state:

“Real Madrid has the feeling of power, and we have the feeling of freedom. They prefer signing players, while we have more players from La Masia.”

Speaking during his own exchange with the media on Thursday 24 hours, it therefore came as little surprise when the Barcelona chief’s words were put to Real Madrid headmaster Xabi Alonso.

And the tactician, whilst diplomatic, was firm in his response, explaining:

“I imagine myself in the context in which he said it and I don’t want to get involved in that either. We do have a feeling of freedom and democracy and I imagine that they also have some power. In other words, this goes both ways.”
