Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has this weekend confirmed the prominence set to be enjoyed a member of his midfield ranks in his project in Spain’s capital.

The player in question? Aurélien Tchouaméni.

France international Tchouaméni has for his part come in for widespread praise on the part of fans and pundits alike over recent months.

This comes after the former AS Monaco standout recovered from nothing short of an alarming dip in form over the first half of the campaign in spectacular fashion.

Looking a player rejuvenated, Tchouaméni returned to his previous dominant self in the middle of the park, standing out as one of Real Madrid’s very best performers.

And one individual on whom such excellence evidently didn’t go overlooked is the aforementioned Xabi Alonso.

Speaking during a press conference ahead of his side’s Club World Cup meeting with Pachuca on Sunday, Los Blancos’ new headmaster confirmed:
