Chelsea close in with Bristol City thrashing

Scorers: Reiten 6' [Pen], 56', 70', 77', Nusken 23', Beever-Jones 52', 88', Charles 74'

Chelsea ensured that they capitalised on Manchester City's shock defeat as four goals from Guro Reiten helped them put eight past already relegated Bristol City.

The Norweigian winger started proceedings by converting a penalty after just six minutes, before her corner found Sjoeke Nusken to double the Blues' lead after 20 minutes.

Bristol rallied though, and the sides headed into half time still just two goals apart, with both teams guilty of missing chances.

In the second half though, Chelsea moved through the gears. Amy Beever-Jones began the rout when she finished off a smart move, before Reiten added three more inside 21 minutes, alongside an effort from Niamh Charles to leave the result beyond doubt, and move Chelsea's goal difference alongside Manchester City's in the title race.

There was nothing Bristol City could do to stem the onslaught, and two minutes from time Beever-Jones grabbed her second of the night, and Chelsea's eighth, to cap off a fine evening.

The massive win means that Chelsea trail Manchester City by three points but have a game in hand on their rivals and, crucially, have moved their goal difference above City's, leaving the title in their hands once more.

Title race drama as Arsenal stun City

Scorers: Hemp 17'; Blackstenius 89', 90+2'

The title race took yet another twist as Arsenal crushed Manchester City hearts with a stunning comeback.

Gareth Taylor's side were in the drivers seat most of the match and needed a moment of brilliance from Lauren Hemp to open to scoring.

A quick swivel in the box and left footed shot into the bottom corner beat Manuela Zinsberger before Hemp ran and celebrated with Steph Houghton.

Arsenal, meanwhile, attempted to pull some strings but lacked a finishing touch. The Gunners registered just one lonely shot on goal in the first half.

The visitors pushed for an equaliser after the break but Beth Mead, Katie McCabe and Stina Blackstenius again couldn't find the right touch.

City appeared to cut out every final movement from the Gunners and held on to their slim lead. That was until Arsenal's persistence prevailed.

Blackstenius proved to be the hero off the bench and poked home the equaliser before heading home the eventual winner in the blink of an eye.

It means Arsenal were briefly up to second in the table behind City, before Chelsea demoted them back to third. The final day of the season is going to be mad!

Liverpool edge past Man Utd

Scorer: Clark 45+3'

A huge rivalry took place in Liverpool as the Reds managed to scrape by Manchester United in their final home match of the season.

Tied on points it was always gong to be a nervy affair and there appeared to be more challenges than true chances. Ceri Holland, in particular, kept Mary Earps on her toes.

Things then took a negative and positive turn for the hosts just before the break.

After Emma Koivisto was slammed into the advertising boards, manager Matt Beard shared his frustrations about the challenge with the referee and was shown red.

Yet even without their boss, the Reds managed to find a breakthrough when Jenna Clark's header finally beat Earps.

Manchester United made a handful of changes after the break to try and find an equaliser, however, the introduction of Melvine Malard, Hayley Ladd, and others couldn't inspire.

Goalkeeper Teagan Micah was forced to make a late save on Malard, but the visitors still finished with just three shots on target.

The result means Liverpool leapfrogged Manchester United into fourth with one match to go for both.
