From so many rapidly sinking longstanding local and national news brands, right through to the more recently launched websites that are both club and general based.

With ‘insider information’, ‘exclusives’ and absolutely reliable ‘sources (sauces?)’ we are truly spoilt for choice.

However, we now have surely the worst ever Newcastle United transfer claim.

A new contender that goes straight to the top (or should that be bottom?)…

Newcastle United transfer ‘exclusive’ from Caught Offside – 7 September 2024:

Newcastle want Man United star Antony

It’s believed that Newcastle have long wanted to sign an exciting winger, and early in 2025 will represent an opportunity to do just that.

Caught Offside sources have advance that Eddie Howe is considering a move for Manchester United’s Brazilian winger Antony, if their pursuit of Anthony Elanga falls through.

Sources indicate that Man United are now open to selling a player that they paid £86m for, for a fee in the region of £40m.

Howe is said to highly appreciate Antony’s skills and believes he would be a valuable addition to the squad.

Furthermore, the player himself is reportedly keen on the potential move to the North East giants.

Caught Offside sources have reiterated that Newcastle are happy to pay the new asking price and if Antony can hit the ground running on Tyneside, he’ll quickly become a fan favourite and, potentially, resurrect his career.’

So, what do you think?

That is truly some ‘exclusive’ don’t you think…?

Personally, if I was asked to rank how reliable the ‘information’ is from the ‘sauces’ in this ‘exclusive’ on a scale of one to a thousand in terms of reliability, with one meaning least reliable and a thousand meaning reliable beyond any doubt, I would rank this Antony to Newcastle United ‘exclusive’ at minus ten million.

Erik ten Hag has made some truly appalling signings for Manchester United, as he attempts to reunite all the players who ever played for him at Ajax, however, the £86m he got Man U to pay for Antony is truly special.

The idea that Newcastle United would pay Man U £40m for Antony and at the same time make him their highest paid player by far, on way more than Bruno, Gordon, Joelinton, Tonali, Isak and others, is beyond laughable.

If Manchester United were giving Antony away and the player was willing to come and play for free, I would still find it impossible to believe that Eddie Howe would for a single second think it would be a good idea to sign this waste of space.

Heart the size of a pea, the sulky Brazilian is everything that his countrymen, Bruno and Joelinton, are not.

Even Erik ten Hag has clearly accepted how woeful Antony is.

After paying £86m to Ajax for him in summer 2022, Erik ten Hag gave Antony 23 Premier League starts in the 2022/23 season, then that dropped to only 15 PL starts in the 2023/24 season, now in the 2024/25 season it has been one Premier League minute of football for Antony in the three PL games so far.

Manchester United willing to sell Antony for £40m?
