At the same time as the UEFA Nations League play–offs, on the evening of Friday 21 March, the European sides who have already exited the competition officially began their journey to qualification for the World Cup 2026.
The qualifying route for European sides foresees the division into 12 groups with the first six (A, B, C, D, E, F) comprised of four nations and the remaining six (G, H, I, J, K, L) comprised of five.
On the opening day for Group K, Kristjan Asllani played with Albania in their 2-0 defeat to England. The game, held in the historic London venue of Wembley, was decided by goals from Lewis-Skelly and Kane (20’ and 77’).
Asllani, fielded in the starting XI by Sylvinho, played the full 90. Albania will play next in Tirana against Andorra in the second game of Group K: scheduled for Monday 24 March at 20:45 CET.
