World Cup 2026: Black Stars hold first training session in Accra

A second session is scheduled for Tuesday morning, ahead of departure for N’Djamena.

The Ghana Black Stars kicked off their preparations on September 1 at the Accra Sports Stadium, gearing up for their next two 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
Among the players present on Monday were Antoine Semenyo, Elisha Owusu, Ibrahim Osman, Kamal Deen Sulemana, Jerry Afriyie, Joseph Anang, Christopher Bonsu Baah, Benjamin Asare, Jonas Adjetey, Ibrahim Sulemana, Jordan Ayew, and Gideon Mensah. The rest of the squad was expected to arrive later in the evening, while Joseph Paintsil will join the group on Tuesday morning.
Leading Group I with 15 points from six matches, Ghana will first travel to N’Djamena on Thursday, September 4, before hosting Mali on Monday, September 8, at the Accra Stadium. The objective is clear: solidify the top spot and edge closer to a fifth World Cup appearance. The team is set to depart for N’Djamena on September 2.
