While the Ballon d'Or for men has been awarded every year since 1956, its women's counterpart only came into existence in 2018.

The very first Women's Ballon d'Or went to Norwegian star Ada Hegerberg in 2018. Since 2021, the trophy has been dominated by Spanish talent, with Alexia Putellas claiming back-to-back wins, followed by two consecutive triumphs for Aitana Bonmatí, who currently holds the title.

Chloe Kelly, Champions League winner with Arsenal and scorer in the Women's Euro final against England, is considered a frontrunner for the award.

Here is the complete list of Women's Ballon d'Or winners:

2024: Aitana Bonmatí (Spain – FC Barcelona)
