Wolves vs Everton: Preview and Predicted Lineups

Everton will be looking for their first win on the road as they prepare to face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium on Saturday.
The Blues beat Brighton 2-0 in their last Premier League match at Hill Dickinson Stadium and repeated that scoreline in the second round EFL Cup game with Mansfield Town at the same venue.
Back-to-back wins erase some of the apprehension and concern that had taken hold after the Toffees languished in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of newly-promoted Leeds United at Elland Road in their Premier League opener.
Everton will have Vitalii Mykolenko available for this match after the Ukrainian left-back made his return from injury in the cup game against Mansfield Town. Mykolenko played 87 minutes of that game and looked impressive after a short spell on the sidelines.
This will allow James Garner to return to his natural position after the midfielder had to deputise at left-back following Mykolenko’s absence against Leeds and Brighton.
The Blues will, however, miss Jarrad Branthwaite, Adam Aznou and Nathan Patterson for the trip to Molineux.
Tyler Dibling, signed from Southampton earlier this week, is expected to make his first Premier League team sheet for Everton this weekend.
Everton predicted starting XI: Pickford; O’Brien, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko; Gueye, Garner; Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish; Beto
Everton are set to face Wolverhampton Wanderers away from home on Saturday, 30 August 2025. Kick-off is scheduled at 3:00 pm BST.
No 3:00 pm kick-off fixture will be broadcast live on TV in the UK throughout the 2025-26 football season. Wolves vs Everton will also not be available on live streaming.
Highlights will be available to view on Sky Sports' social media channels later in the day, while BBC One will also have a highlights package on Match of the Day at 10:20 pm.

We have a great chance for another 3 points. We will, finally, have a bench that can affect a game. When we look back at the last few seasons and what we can now put on the park the transformation is fantastic
Well done to our new owners for putting a professional team in place.Improvement will be slow but will hopefully be consistent.
Finally we can argue about who are starting 11 is!!!
Pete Neilson 2 Posted 29/08/2025 at 16:26:27
Anyone else planning on parking at Goodison tomorrow morning to catch the coach to Wolves, forget about it. Email just received, as there’s a clash with ladies friendly against Juventus there’s no room. I guess someone at the club has just realised. These pesky fixtures just seem to take the back office by surprise.
Andrew Ellams 3 Posted 29/08/2025 at 16:33:07
That team is probably bang on as long as Myko came through unscathed on Wednesday. The question is who drops out when Dibling gets his start? Has to be Garner or Dewsbury-Hall.
Sam Hoare 4 Posted 29/08/2025 at 17:05:45
Predicted lineup looks about right and should be strong. Wolves may well be without Strand Larsen which should help but they have a strong central midfield in Andre and Joao Gomes and I worry about Gana and Garner winning that battle.
Definitely a good shot at 3 points though Molineux is no easy place to play and Wolves will be desperate for their first points.
First goal will be crucial as ever but if KDH, Grealish and Ndiaye are on form then we should be able to create some chances. Having Mykolenko back will be crucial and should allow Grealish to stay a little further up the pitch hopefully.
Neil Lawson 6 Posted 29/08/2025 at 17:15:15
I agree that is the likely starting 11. Moyes not known for going " left field". I just wonder though if he may be tempted to go without Beto or Barry and play Ndiaye centrally and reinforce the middle?I doubt it but it has merit.
Mal van Schaick 7 Posted 29/08/2025 at 17:36:52
We are gradually running into a bit of form and I fancy Everton for a narrow win. I’m pleased to see that Keane is getting games, he looks so much better not being paired with Holgate.
Martin Reppion 8 Posted 29/08/2025 at 17:51:21
I would certainly be happier with Barry up top to hold the ball and occupy their centre backs for the first hour. Beto can finish when all the work has been done for him, but the ball just comes back at us without a centre forward to bring the other attacking players into the game. There is also merit in the idea of a fluid front four with Ndiaye in the Richarlison number 9 role. Any defenders are going to wonder where to look with him, Alcaraz, Grealish and KDH in free roles. But I can't see it happening.Still hoping for a few arrivals before Monday night. Then we can really look forward to a more relaxed season.
John Raftery 9 Posted 29/08/2025 at 17:57:38
Pete (2) That is a shocking decision, compounded by the ridiculously short notice. No consideration has been given to what people who drive from a distance outside Liverpool are supposed to do given the ludicrous parking restrictions imposed by the Council.
Pete Neilson 10 Posted 29/08/2025 at 18:42:17
John (9) yes it’s all a bit last minute isn’t it? From what I understand it’s free parking for those attending the ladies game so no real need for this either commercially 🤣 or operationally. On top of the rigmarole many of us had getting into the Mansfield game, someone inside the club needs to get a grip on the back office operation.
Raymond Fox 11 Posted 29/08/2025 at 18:42:27
Away wins are hard to come by and I don't care who your playing. We are mostly pretty satisfied with how things are playing out, but thats usually when something goes pear shaped.Away from home I'll take a draw now, if we win I'll be thrilled.
Christy Ring 13 Posted 29/08/2025 at 19:56:01
I'm quietly confident especially if Laursen is missing, good to have Mykolenko back, probably play Garner beside Gueye, but Tim can feel unlucky if he's on the bench.
Jay Harris 14 Posted 29/08/2025 at 20:37:35
Back 4 picks iself although there might be a debate between Jake and Seamus.
DM MF is a shoe in Garner and Gana but the front 4 is where the real question is.
I thought Charlie linked up well against Mansfield and score a class goal but Wolves will be far more physical so we need a battling Number 9 (Hang on we haven't got one) so it's Barry, Beto or a false 9.
Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish and Ndiaye are looking good so if we want to integrate Dibling one of those 3 will have to miss out or move further back at the expense of Ganer or Gana.
It's also a shame for Tim Iroegbunam and Harrison Armstrong but at least it gives us options.
Kevin Molloy 15 Posted 29/08/2025 at 20:44:26
I'd play Dibling, put Ndiaye in the middle with Dewsbury-Hall and Gana behind him. And stick with Barry.
In such a system, I suspect Ndiaye would score a lot more than last season.
Phil (Kelsall) Roberts 16 Posted 29/08/2025 at 20:52:02
I think Thierno is going to take time to be a goalscorer but in the meantime he is going to be a great leader of the line bringing in other players.
His job will be to tire out the defenders for the first 60-70 minutes and then let the fresh legs of Beto batter them (a la Anichebe in the European matches years ago).
I also think that he may now have wingers who can cross the ball and once all on the same wavelength, then he could be bagging a few.
Jim Wilson 17 Posted 29/08/2025 at 21:26:51
The corrupt Oliver is the ref and the corrupt Pawson is the VAR.So if we don't see at least one awful decision given against us tomorrow we will have witnessed a minor miracle.
Jack Convery 18 Posted 29/08/2025 at 23:36:32
Jim@17. That's a red card, a disallowed goal by VAR and a yellow for Irvine and that's only the 1st half.
Rob Hooton 19 Posted 29/08/2025 at 23:44:45
I refuse to be too positive about getting a result as when I am it all goes tits up! As Raymond says, it’s always difficult playing away and Wolves will be desperate to get their first win of the season, so they’ll be well up for it.
Whoever starts I just hope we play some decent football and create chances, if we win I’ll be over the moon and wouldn’t be upset with a point (unless we batter them and miss a load of sitters!)
Progress on the pitch is important, get that right and the results will follow.
Saying all that, I am cautiously optimistic for the season ahead.
Chris Davies 20 Posted 29/08/2025 at 23:49:27
My old man and I always used to park in (Anfield?) car park for games at Goodison. Is that no longer an option?Sorry for mentioning our old ground, btw
Steve O’Shaughnessy 21 Posted 30/08/2025 at 01:07:17
this is really starting to look like an actual squad capable of having a good season. Those are some real options. It is way too early to be anything but optimistic for Barry and Beto has scored goals in the past so will score them again. The backline does largely pick itself but then it gets interesting. I agree with Garner beside Idrissa. Ndiaye, KDH and Grealish and then I'm not bothered too much who plays up top. Dibling will come off the bench for a few weeks. With Harrison, Tim and Charly off the bench we really do have options to either shore up or go for it. I'm furious with myself for getting hopeful about this team... 40 odd years as an Evertonian should mean I should know better:)
Sean Kearns 22 Posted 30/08/2025 at 01:30:27
Pickford
Coleman - Tarks - O’Brien - Myko
Gana - KDH
Ndiaye - Grealish - Dibling
Bazza
Mike Gaynes 23 Posted 30/08/2025 at 06:34:54
Game is on Peacock in the US as usual.
Jerome Shields 24 Posted 30/08/2025 at 07:16:31
Sean#22
Keane will get playing on his last game and Dibling has to get himself up the pecking order.Garner most liking, though Tim played well last game.Moyes may want Ndiaye to produce more.He may also rest Grealish at the sstart of the game.
Lee Courtliff 25 Posted 30/08/2025 at 07:41:55
Steve #21, I'm the same, mate. I spent yesterday day dreaming about the impending Glory Days, as kick off draws closer I'm just thinking about all the times Everton have built up my hopes just to let me down.
Even if its only a mid table season it will still be a massive improvement on the last 4 seasons. And the actual football will be much better to watch.
James Marshall 26 Posted 30/08/2025 at 07:55:19
Why would he rest Grealish? He rested him when he came off after 60 minutes against Mansfield.
I can't think why he would have even played against Mansfield if he was going to rest him today.
Grealish is fit, the only reason he didn't play every week for City is because of Pep's rotation/favourites.
Grealish is the first name on our team sheet every week.
Ian Wilkins 27 Posted 30/08/2025 at 08:44:00
Which Everton shows up today? The progressive Everton we’ve seen at the HD stadium or the sit back, no press Everton we saw at Leeds, allowing a bang average Wolves side to dominate. Our approach will determine what happens today.
Peter Moore 28 Posted 30/08/2025 at 09:35:45
I can't see the team being as passive as they were against Leeds in the first half.Wolves will be bouyed up by a desperate and fervent home support though, so it may be a case of holding firm and hitting them on the break in the early part of the match perhaps. If we can keep them out and get one or two ourselves, the crowd may start to turn and perhaps a Blue Letter Day could be in order! Barry, Beto, Alcaraz, Dewsbury-Hall, Dibling, Grealish, Garner, O'Brien, Tarks, Keane, McNeil. All these players are confident and capable when presented with the right type of scoring chance. Get in there lads. UTFT.
Peter Moore 29 Posted 30/08/2025 at 09:41:42
Harrison Armstrong also knows where the net is of course, more than many others I suspect. Tim and Gana also slam one home occasionally hey.Jose Sa is a good keeper, so need some quality finishing today. Let's hope the boys have shaken the early season rust off, and start to hit their mark today. Come on you blue boys.
Derek Knox 30 Posted 30/08/2025 at 09:44:24
Hope you are right Peter, and also hope we go into this match not being over-confident. As you say they will be up for this having had a miserable start to their campaign, and I think their fans won't hold back on expressing their disapproval should things go against them.
I hope that is the case !
Brian Harrison 31 Posted 30/08/2025 at 09:55:11
I wonder what team Moyes will start with today, whichever 11 he starts with he will at least have options from the bench which makes a big difference as the last few seasons we have had little from the bench to change games. This is a very winnable game and I will be disappointed if we don't come away with 3 points. There is also some speculation that there main striker Strand Larsen wont start while his on off move to Newcastle goes on, which has to be a big advantage for us as he changed the Cup game against West Ham in midweek scoring 2 in 5 minutes after coming off the bench.
Scott Hamilton 32 Posted 30/08/2025 at 09:59:35
Wolves got a good win against West Ham earlier in the week and will be feeling confident.
We need to be ready to soak up some early pressure and show patience, like we did against Mansfield. A scrappy/lucky 1-0 will do. It’s all about building momentum, players like Barry and Dibling finding their form, and us maintaining a top-half league position throughout the season.
Geoff Lambert 33 Posted 30/08/2025 at 10:08:10
With the Midfield we now have we shouldn't be worrying about the striker holding up the ball. Bring DCL back if you want to hold up the ball and the whole team.. this midfield should be playing to Beto's strength and giving him something to run on to not hoofing it up at him. Or hoof it up to Barry so he can pass it back to the midfield and get in the box.
Kunal Desai 34 Posted 30/08/2025 at 10:17:20
I'd go with that predicted lineup with the exception of Barry starting in place of Beto.
Options of the bench with Dibling, McNeil, Beto, Armstrong, and Iroegbunam
Mike Allison 35 Posted 30/08/2025 at 10:32:26
I’m not that worried about who is in the starting XI any more. As John (1) says, we now have a bench that can affect the game.
This is especially so with the Beto or Barry debate. I don’t really care which one starts as the other one will finish, which is just as important (if not more so). We could even leave out Grealish and N’Diaye and I’d be relaxed knowing they’d be coming on fresh to decide the result.
My one reservation is that Moyes still seems to be reticent with substitutions. It should be part of the game plan that on c.60 mins, we’re making 2-3 particular changes because the last half hour of a game is different to the first hour.
Your finishing XI is as important as your starting XI.
James Marshall 36 Posted 30/08/2025 at 10:35:56
Barry should start and we should start fast, score early and make them chase the game.
Doing that we can bring Beto on later when they push up and leave space in behind. That's exactly what Moyes did against Brighton and it worked. Beto should have scored in that game as there was loads of space behind Brighton's backline.
That likely won't be the case at the start of the game today, but could be later on. I reckon it should almost always be Barry starting, Beto coming on later because we need to learn to play to feet and not lob it up to Beto or play it over the top for him to chase hopeful balls into the channels.
Si Cooper 37 Posted 30/08/2025 at 10:41:52
No one fancy Jimmy Garner at RB for this game, putting Tarks and O’Brien in the middle? He’s filled in at LB twice despite being right footed.
It seems like an option to me, with Armstrong or Iroegbunam partnering Gana, though I’ve no idea whether Keane has been out-performing Jake in training.
Hope we don’t go too cautious because it’s an away fixture. An early goal could silence the home support and heap the pressure on Wolves.
Shame they had a decent performance midweek. No easy fixtures these days and a good result would be laying down a significant marker.
COYB! Let’s have another huge step in the right direction.
Mark Murphy 38 Posted 30/08/2025 at 10:52:17
Si, what’s Keane done to deserve being benched? He’s looked more solid than both O’Brien and Tarkowski.Until Branthwaite is back we should try to keep a settled back four.
Derek Taylor 39 Posted 30/08/2025 at 11:07:52
The lack of a real 'finisher' will cost us dearly and restrict us to the lower reaches throughout the season as midfielders pass backwards and forwards to each other !
Jake FitzGerald 40 Posted 30/08/2025 at 11:18:12
That’s the spirit, Derek.
Martin Berry 41 Posted 30/08/2025 at 11:21:00
We will too much for Wolves today.
Raymond Fox 42 Posted 30/08/2025 at 11:25:43
The betting is Wolves 2/1 Everton 6/4 and 2/1 a Draw they are approx prices.
So we are favourites, its nice to get some respect from the so called experts.
We have more options in attack now, we have players from a few positions that can pop up and score.
Having said all that, they have home advantage which is always difficult to overcome.
I think it will finish a win for us or a draw.
James Marshall 43 Posted 30/08/2025 at 11:28:36
I reckon the same Martin. Wolves have played 2 games, scored 0 goals and conceded 5. Albeit 4 were against City.
They only just made it past West Ham in the League Cup who scored 2 against them and the Hammers are shite.
Derek Knox 44 Posted 30/08/2025 at 11:29:19
Mark @ 38, totally agree about Keane, while not exactly a revelation, or a born again superstar, he has performed, possibly better than his contemporaries in the CB role. No reason for him to be benched, and he always has a knack of popping up with a goal too. Hope that may be today.
COYB 💙💙
Robert Tressell 45 Posted 30/08/2025 at 11:33:39
We will have the same problem all season unless we buy in the next day or so: too narrow and not enough pace on the flanks or running in behind.
Although we have much better technical players this season it still makes it much harder to counter attack - which in turn means the opposition feels confident in committing players forward against us.
It is made much worse by Keane and Tarkowski as a partnership because we’re also sitting too deep - inviting teams on even more. That’s why it always improves with Branthwaite. It’s not just his ability - it’s his pace.
Lack of pace and width make away games in particular very hard work (or harder than they should be) even against the Premier League’s weakest teams - which include Wolves.
Michael Bennet 46 Posted 30/08/2025 at 12:00:15
Derick taylor spot on, I've been saying it for months no strikers means bottom half again
Kevin Molloy 47 Posted 30/08/2025 at 12:37:52
Robert
yes I agree the current backline is too slow. I think it will get sorted though, as soon as |Branthwaite is fit. Whilst we don't have lightning pace on the wings I think we have enough up front to stop teams pushing up too high. Beto in particular is becoming quite adept at engineering one on ones and then dispatching them. Dibling as well poses a particular threat if he receives the ball on the turn when we're camped in our own half.
one issue which seemed hypothetical a few weeks ago is now starting to hove into view. Imagine if we had a brilliant season, got fifth spot, Champions league, and then got relegated cos of Roma. this is Everton after all.
Jamie Crowley 48 Posted 30/08/2025 at 12:46:53
I think the next two games are pivotal in the sense we will really see what this team can do this season.
A game on the road that, in my opinion, we should win. We must garner road points against teams we are frankly better than if we want to finish up the table.
Followed by a tough home game at Villa. We have to win home games against above average to tough competition.
Do that, we'll be very happy come May. And these next two games are textbook examples of the roadmap to "success".

Colin Malone 49 Posted 30/08/2025 at 12:56:52
Harrison Armstrong deserves a start for his creativity. A local lad, hopefully brought up a blue.
Sean Kearns 50 Posted 30/08/2025 at 13:01:02
The prem is rigged to a tee and they don’t even try to hide it. The shite, Man U or Chelsea all get that goal given. No if’s, ands or but’s. THEY EVEN SPED UP THE REPLAY ON THE REFEREE’s MONITOR SO IT LOOKED TERRIBLE. Why was it getting shown in FAST FORWARD on the var replay? To make it look worse. Someone (A PL manager) has to be ballsy enough to say it in an interview… We’ll never see another Leicester story, or Wigan winning the FA cup. The shite being so high up the league every season even when they aren’t very good is all scripted/fixed. Major tournaments are the same way. Do FIFA want Siberia in a world
Cup final or MESSI and co who sell more Pepsi, jerseys, crisps etc etc… sponsors are happy. NFL is the same way. The bills got shafted in the play offs last season because Taylor Swift makes the league so much money and attracts new fans (new money)
Jamie Crowley 51 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:26:42
Sean -
Your complaint about the Premier League and their implementation of VAR is valid.
The conspiracy theory about the Chiefs and the NFL isn't. It's just some bad calls.
And Taylor Swift being shown every 5 minutes is annoying as fuck, so I do agree with you on that! I wish her and the great, but also highy annoying, Travis Kelsey would just disappear. Or lose to the Packers this year in the Super Bowl.
Liam Mogan 52 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:27:29
Just Shake it Off, Jamie
Liam Mogan 53 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:29:33
No Strand Larsen for Wolves.
James Marshall 54 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:32:27
Liam, he's off to Newcastle isn't he? Hence being left out I imagine.
We should turn these over today. I'm never confident so things must be changing!
Liam Mogan 55 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:35:37
Think so, James. Probably means Isak is off to Mordor then (despite certain experts on here saying the RS didn't have the funds 🤪).
Rob Dolby 56 Posted 30/08/2025 at 14:35:58
Fulham getting stiffed by the ref and VAR. The disallowed goal is a disgrace, a collective of 4 officials at the game, 3 at Stockley, contrived to cancel a perfectly good goal.
8 minutes of injury time and Chelsea score in the 9th minute of injury time... another head scratcher.
Chelsea penalty comes courtesy of a Pedro push and ball to hand and then the ball hitting the Fulham player's arm unintentionally results in a penalty for Chelsea.
You can't get things much more incompetent, funny how all of the decisions went to Chelsea. Little old Fulham should just know their place take the money and keep quiet. After all, decisions will even themselves out over the course of the season.
Back to the Blues. I would have picked this team; I think Alcaraz is unlucky but can hopefully make an impact from the bench.
