Manchester City could yet enter the transfer market in 2025 in the search for a brand new winger to add to Pep Guardiola’s offensive options, according to reports.

The Premier League champions have found difficulties in converting chances throughout the ongoing season, despite creating enough chances to win the majority of the games that they have ended up losing.

Manchester City are enduring their worst run of form under Pep Guardiola since the Catalan’s arrival in the summer of 2016, having lost seven of their last 10 matches, winning just one game during that period.

As such, many supporters are pointing the blame towards the corners that have been cut in previous transfer windows, with recruitment choices being arguably poor and not enough done to ensure that Guardiola’s squad is deep enough to manage an intense fixture schedule.

In light of Manchester City’s recently confirmed financial results on Friday morning, the belief around the Etihad Stadium is that transfer bosses will target somewhat of a rebuild across 2025, with numerous positions set to be addressed.

According to the information of The Telegraph, the number 10 position is one that must be addressed by Manchester City chiefs, who are one of many admirers in Bayer Leverkusen and Germany’s Florian Wirtz.

The report also reveals that Crystal Palace and England’s Eberechi Eze and Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brazil’s Matheus Cunha have been scouted previously by the Premier League champions.

But what could investment mean for some of Manchester City’s existing offensive players?

The Telegraph reports that Pep Guardiola still has faith in Jack Grealish, and also believes that there is a lot more to come from Jeremy Doku, while Oscar Bobb is still to return following a leg fracture in August. Nevertheless, City could reportedly be in the market for another winger.

Manchester City have seen plenty of change in the wide positions throughout Pep Guardiola’s time at the club, flickering between fast and direct options, to those who are able to bring more control and poise in advanced areas.

Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling largely marked the former era bringing about plenty of success and back-to-back Premier League titles wins in 2017/18 and 2018/19, while the current pairing of Jeremy Doku and Savinho could bring a return to that approach to attacking play.

Other areas that could be assessed by Manchester City include the central defensive roles, with the club heading into this weekend’s derby clash with Manchester United without all of Manuel Akanji, Nathan Ake, and John Stones due to fitness frustration.
