Vítor Pereira claimed he would have sent referee Simon Hooper off for his performance in Wolves’ controversial defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

The visitors felt hard done by with several decisions going against them as Luis Diaz and Mo Salah earned Liverpool a crucial win.

Ibrahima Konate was perhaps fortunate to avoid being sent off for a second yellow card as Wolves made life uncomfortable for the Premier League leaders in the second half.

Pereira was given a yellow card for venting his frustration on the sidelines and admitted his dissatisfaction at the referee’s performance.

When asked why he was given a yellow card, Pereira responded: “I don’t know, because I’m emotional when I’m competing?

“I’m not watching a movie on the sofa. When you are competing you are emotional. I’m not in the theatre. I’m there to compete.”

Pereira went on to suggest he would have sent the referee off if he had cards in his pocket.

“I’m trying to accept a lot of decisions today,” he added.

“If I have yellow cards in my pocket or maybe even red cards, I would have shown them.”
