Liverpool will welcome Bournemouth at Anfield this Friday night as they look to kick off the new Premier League campaign with a win in front of their home fans. The Reds suffered a loss on penalties against Crystal Palace in the Community Shield final recently, so they would be eager to put on a much-improved showing this week.

Arne Slot will set his men up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to keep changes to a minimum. Ryan Gravenberch is suspended for this game. Thus, Curtis Jones will once again get a chance to shine alongside Dominik Szoboszlai at the heart of Slot’s midfield.

Defence

Alison Becker will feature in between the sticks for the Reds after shipping in a couple of goals in his last outing. Virgil Van Dijk will function alongside Ibrahima Konate at the centre of the Liverpool backline as they look to keep a solid shape on the defensive end of the pitch.

Jeremie Frimpong will get a chance to impress as the right-back, while Milos Kerkez hopes to catch the eye on the other side as the left-back. Both of them would get the license to go forward and express themselves in the opponent’s half.

Andrew Robertson will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai will anchor the midfield for the Reds as they look to establish their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park.

The talented trio of Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz and Mohamed Salah will play just ahead of them as part of Slot’s attack. All three of them would be eager to link up with each other well and cause a lot of problems for the Bournemouth defenders this Friday night.

Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott and Alexis Mac Alister will be named on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine in the second 45 minutes if needed.

Attack

Hugo Ekitike will lead the charge for the Reds in the final third. He would be eager to find the back of the net after managing to do so against the Eagles recently.

Federico Chiesa and Rio Ngumoha will make up the numbers on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the latter stages of the game if required.
