Now, it seems he is keen on getting involved in football, with recent reports claiming he could invest in Millwall.

Turki Alalshikh considering Millwall investment

Given the financial power of the Saudi businessman, this could potentially transform Millwall, and here we look at THREE reasons why the Lions are an attractive option to him…

1 Passionate fan base

Millwall’s fan base is rated among the most passionate in the country, even though they averaged just over 15,000 in the 2024/25 season, and it will be interesting to see how they react to this development.

Nevertheless, they create a hostile atmosphere at The Den, and it is part of the appeal of the club.

In the modern game, it’s sad to say that this makes them different to most, and Turki Alalshikh will recognise just how electric Millwall could be if they build momentum and start picking up positive results on a consistent basis.

If things do go well, visiting The Den could be quite the experience for Turki Alalshikh - along with visiting supporters.

Another factor that will appeal to Turki Alalshikh is the location of the club in terms of developing and attracting talent.

Firstly, it’s generally easier to sign players when you are based in London, but it’s also become huge for the academy.

Over the years, Millwall have failed to maximise this, with Crystal Palace said to have been the main beneficiaries of the young talent in the capital, and especially South London.

Pleasingly, that has changed somewhat recently, with Romain Esse someone that the Lions developed before selling on to Palace for a huge profit. And, more quality is coming through, with Ra’ees Bangura-Williams looking like he could follow a similar path.

With further investment and a clear strategy, Millwall could make themselves the number one club for the quality youngsters coming through in London.

3 They are in a stable position thanks to the Berylson family

Finally, if any deal did go through, Turki Alalshikh would be taking over a stable, well-run club.

Even though they have recorded losses over the years, Millwall are in a strong position in many ways.

As mentioned, the academy is improving and producing players, whilst they also secured a 999-year deal for the ground from the council last year, ending any fears they would leave The Den.

On the pitch, they have made progress under the Berylson family, and they have a squad who are competitive in the Championship. Unlike other clubs, there will be no talk of points deductions, financial mismanagement or PSR problems with Millwall.
