Serie A giants Milan were close to selling left-back Theo Hernandez to Atletico Madrid yesterday but the deal has now fallen through.
La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that while a deal seemed quite close yesterday afternoon and the Spanish club had offered a base fee of €20 million and bonuses. Milan had initially refused to give discounts in the transfer but the offer on the table seemed appealing to them.
That fee seemed enough for Milan but suddenly, Atletico Madrid backed out of the move. The left-back was interested in the transfer, having rejected a move to Al Hilal in the hope of sealing a transfer to another European club. His contract was also being ironed out by the Spanish giants before they decided to move away.
Atleti’s decision to back out came from the upper management and it was simple change of heart from them and other key details haven’t yet arrived.
