Thiago Motta surprisingly announced Juventus‘ starting XI on the eve of a Serie A match against Genoa, revealing that 20-year-old talent Rouhi would feature for the first time in the Bianconeri line-up.

He is not entirely a new face as the 20-year-old already made his Serie A and senior Juventus debut coming off the bench as a substitute in a 3-0 win over Hellas Verona in August.

Raised in the IF Bronna Academy in Sweden, Rouhi joined Juventus’ youth sector in 2020, making his way from the U16 squad.

A natural left-back, Rouhi is left-footed and is 1,83 meters tall.

He has over 100 appearances in the Juventus Youth Sector, including 54 with the U19 squad and 30 with the NextGen playing professional football in Italy’s third division Serie C.

Rouhi scored two goals, provided two assists with NextGen, and was permanently promoted to the first team last summer after signing a contract extension and training for the whole pre-season with the senior team.

He will become the third NextGen player making his debut as a starter under Thiago Motta this season, after Samuel Mbangula and Nicolò Savona, who both scored on their first games as starters.

“What an incredible feeling to make my debut for Juventus. It’s a dream come true,” the defender wrote on Instagram last month after making his first senior appearance as a substitute.

“I hope to achieve great things with this club and be part of something special.”

Rouhi made his Sweden U21 debut in March 2024 and has one goal in five international appearances at the U21 level.
