Arsenal or Manchester City will receive 40 Premier League medals on Sunday, but which players will be eligible to receive them?

With one game to be played, both Arsenal and Manchester City are still capable of winning the Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola’s City side are the favourites, with a two-point advantage over Arsenal. If they win or Arsenal fail to win, the title will be theirs.

But Arsenal will win the league if they secure three points and City don’t, holding the goal difference advantage if City drop points.

So we don’t know for sure who will be lifting the Premier League trophy and receiving medals ahead of the game, and the competition organisers have had to prepare appropriately.

The Daily Mail report that there will be identical Premier League trophies stored in both grounds, just in case.

There will also be sets of 40 medals at both grounds, with any player who has made at least five appearances guaranteed to receive one.

Both the Etihad Stadium and the Emirates Stadium will also have podiums and fireworks ready, and the trophy will be engraved after the trophy celebrations, not before.

Jurrien Timber, Mohamed Elneny, Ethan Nwaneri, and Cedric Soares have all made fewer than five appearances for Arsenal, whilst Kalvin Phillips, Cole Palmer, James McAtee, Aymeric Laporte, and Scott Carson have made fewer than five for City.

But all of the above players could still receive medals if their clubs choose to give them.

You’re guaranteed a medal if you make five appearances, but the club is still free to give out the remainder of their 40 medals however they want to.

You’d expect Timber, Elneny, and Cedric to receive one if Arsenal pull off a shock win on the final day.
