Savinho has left his home country of Brazil this week ahead of his official arrival as a Manchester City player in early August.

The former Girona loanee became Manchester City’s first senior recruit of the ongoing summer transfer window, with the Premier League champions ensuring that they remained ahead of their competitors when it came to the player’s future after a stellar season.

Savinho starred in a Girona attack that disrupted La Liga’s elite last season, securing their place in the upcoming UEFA Champions League campaign, and further emphasising the strength of the City Football Group as a global football business.

With the player also establishing himself as a senior Brazil international during the last season, Manchester City deemed it necessary to issue a blockbuster fee to his parent club and fellow City Group side Troyes.

As well as agreeing on a long-term, five-year agreement with the Brazilian youngster, Manchester City have also paid an initial £21 million for Savinho, which could rise up to £33.6 million depending on add-ons.

Whilst Savinho uploaded a new update to his Instagram story on Monday evening, showcasing him on a Lufthansa flight, it can be clarified that the Brazil international is not destined for the United States for Manchester City’s pre-season training camp.

Instead, it is understood that Savinho is bound for Manchester ahead of linking up with his City teammates at the CFA training facility on Monday 5 August, where it is expected that the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Jeremy Doku, and other first-team names will also return.

As part of his official announcement as a Manchester City player earlier this month, the Premier League champions also revealed that the 20-year-old would be unveiled to fans at an event in Manchester on Sunday 4 August.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester City will conduct any further business this summer in the way of arrivals into the first-team squad, despite Pep Guardiola already stating his belief that the club will be making minimal changes.

There could however be a number of departures this summer, with Manchester City officials working on deciding the future of Kalvin Phillips, and whether to sanction another temporary move for the Englishman amid a lack of suitors eyeing a permanent agreement.

Julian Alvarez’s future also remains uncertain, with the Argentine international already stating that he will make a decision and weigh up his options following the conclusion of his Olympic Games campaign in Paris this summer.
