Luka Modric’s duties as a Real Madrid player are now over following the club’s elimination from the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which means that the veteran midfielder is now set to officially join Massimiliano Allegri’s Milan.
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Modric will be in Italy at the beginning of next week in order to complete his medical and sign the necessary documents required to officially become a new Milan player.
The 39-year-old, who has spent the 13 seasons at the Bernabeu, is set to sign a one-year contract in San Siro with an option for an additional 12 months. He is set to earn around €3m per season in wages over that period, Football Italia understands.

Though Modric’s arrival is scheduled for early this coming week, Rossoneri supporters may have to wait a little while longer to see the former Ballon d’Or winner in action.
La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that he will be allowed to go on holiday once his medical and contract signing is complete after a long season that began 11 months ago.
Modric is reportedly willing to cut a few days off from his holidays in order to settle in at Milanello. La Gazzetta dello Sport predicts that he will begin training with his new teammates in the week beginning August 4.
