Manchester City have been linked with a swoop for Newcastle and England defender Valentino Livramento as they look to replace the outgoing Kyle Walker.

Walker has been told to find a new club before the beginning of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign after returning from his loan spell at AC Milan, whom the 35-year-old joined in January after losing his starting spot under Pep Guardiola.

The England international has won six Premier League titles since joining Manchester City from Tottenham in 2017, having proved to be one of Guardiola’s most successful signings at the Etihad Stadium.

However, the Sheffield-born right back is past his prime and is not part of Guardiola’s plans for next season as newly-appointed director of football Hugo Viana orchestrates a major squad revamp to get City challenging on all fronts next term.

Fenerbahce have been linked with a move for Walker, who did not do enough whilst on loan in Italy for AC Milan to sign him on a permanent basis after securing his arrival for the second half of the 2024-25 season.

Manchester City have already seen Kevin De Bruyne and Scott Carson leave the club as the pair came to the end of their respective contracts, with Kalvin Phillips and Jack Grealish also expected to find new clubs this summer.

Walker endured a horrid run of form in the fall of 2024 as Manchester City went through their worst spell of results under Guardiola and were effectively ruled out of the Premier League title race.

The right-back sought exile in Milan as the likes of Matheus Nunes, Rico Lewis and January signing Abdukodir Khusanov shouldered the workload on the right side of defence collectively in the absence of the departed Manchester City captain.

Manchester City have been linked with an interest in Newcastle and England U-21 defender Valentino Livramento, who has three years remaining on his current deal and is seen as a key part of Eddie Howe’s project in Tyneside.

Livramento tops City’s wishlist to replace Walker but talks with Newcastle for the Croydon-born right back have hit a stumbling block as Viana and the Manchester City board consider whether they want to re-enter negotiations or move to alternatives. The Blues have already signed Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki in this window.

City were eliminated from the FIFA Club World Cup by Al-Hilal in the Round of 16 after coming up short in a thrilling 4-3 tie and are set to regroup and report for first-team training after four weeks on July 28 – 18 days before the 2025-26 Premier League campaign begins, as per Mail Sport.

It remains to be seen what the coming weeks have in store for Manchester City’s pursuit of a right-back but given that City would have sensed Livramento’s desire of joining forces with Guardiola before approaching Newcastle, the right-back would be hoping for a resolution on his future by the end of the month.
