Manchester United have two names in mind if they are to part ways with Ruben Amorim in the coming months, whether that be through their own choosing or his.
While a manager walking away from the Old Trafford job would be unheard of, the coach has previously suggested he would do so if it came to a point where all faith in him had been lost.

Amorim told reporters immediately after United’s Europa League final defeat: “If the board or fans feel that I’m not the right guy, I will go the next day without any conversation about compensation.”
Fast-forward three months, and the 20-time champions of England have just been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two outfit Grimsby Town in the second round. As a result, they are vying in only two competitions, the Premier League and FA Cup, before the first month of the season has even drawn to a close.
Following last night’s calamitous showing at Blundell Park, Amorim again hinted that he could depart. He expressed post-match that changes were necessary at United in order for them to succeed, but conceded that those changes wouldn’t be within the squad, indicating they’d have to come at a higher level.
Now, CaughtOffside believes it’s a case of ‘when [and] not if’ Amorim is relieved of his duties.
The outlet has revealed that the successors being considered by INEOS’ key decision-makers are Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner.
The latter made history with the Eagles by securing their first-ever major trophy, the FA Cup, in May. Palace finished 12th-placed under Glasner last term.
On the other hand, even though Iraola hasn’t led the Cherries to silverware in his two-year tenure thus far, he has overseen two of the club’s highest-ever Premier League finishes in history; last season’s ninth-placed finish on 56 points established a new record.
