Como are expected to formally announce the signing of four-time Champions League winner Raphael Varane early next week, after reaching an agreement on terms with the former Real Madrid and Manchester United centre-back.

In fact, multiple outlets, including Calciomercato.com, believe that an announcement could arrive by the end of Monday.

Varane is ready to put pen to paper on his official documents after agreeing to a two-year deal with the option of a third. That deal would tie him to the club, at least, until the summer of 2026.

The 31-year-old is currently available as a free agent after a three-year spell at Old Trafford, so Como will not have to pay a transfer fee to bring him to the Stadio Sinigaglia.

The 2018 World Cup champion is set to become Como’s seventh signing of the summer following the arrivals of former Liverpool pair Pepe Reina and Alberto Moreno.

Andrea Belotti has also been brought in from Roma, Alberto Dossena has arrived from Cagliari, Luca Mazzitelli has signed on loan from Frosinone, while ali Jasim has been brought in from Iraq.
