What Chelsea’s set piece coach was seen doing against Brighton | OneFootball

Chelsea made it three Premier League wins in a row with victory against Brighton on Saturday afternoon, but journalist Rahman Osman has revealed what set piece Bernardo Cueva was doing throughout the game.

The Blues continued their good start to the season with a 4-2 win against the Seagulls as they handed them their first defeat of the season and recorded their first win of the season in the league at Stamford Bridge.

Cole Palmer stole the show as he became the first player in Premier League history to score four goals before half-time, the pick of them a superb free-kick as he scored the third hat-trick of his Chelsea career.

What Bernardo Cueva was doing against Brighton

Having kept three clean sheets in a row prior to this game, the Blues conceded two goals for the third time in six league matches.

Robert Sanchez has had a good start to the season but he cost his team two goals as the Spaniard made a couple of really poor mistakes, which thankfully for him didn’t make a difference in the end.

The Blues conceded a club record number of goals last season and hired set piece coach Bernardo Cueva from Brentford in the summer in an attempt to improve from set pieces in both boxes.

It’s early days for Cueva at Chelsea, but Osman reported that during the game against Brighton he was communicating with the players constantly and telling them what positions they needed to take up from set-pieces.

Osman adds that on one occasion Enzo Maresca turned to Cueva when Brighton had a corner to seek confirmation they were set up properly and Cueva gave him a simple nod.

Set pieces are such an important part of football nowadays and although it’s early days the initial signs are positive in regards to the work that Cueva is doing.
