West Ham host Everton in the Premier League this weekend with Julen Lopetegui under pressure to turn results around.
A crushing 3-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest extended a poor start to the season for the Irons, who sit 13th in the Premier League table. Lopetegui’s arrival was greeted with excitement in the summer, while the Hammers spent more than £130m on new signings. However, things have failed to click for the East Londoners and Lopetegui must find the solutions to keep himself out of the firing line.
Everton are the visitors to the London Stadium this weekend, aiming to bounce back from last weekend’s loss at Southampton. After starting the season with four consecutive defeats, the Toffees have improved to climb four points clear of the relegation places. A win this weekend would take them above West Ham.
Things just haven’t got going for West Ham this season with summer signings struggling and Lopetegui unable to settle on his best side.
Midfield has been an issue for the Hammers with Lucas Paqueta and Guido Rodriguez in poor form. Edson Alvarez added to the club’s issues with his second red card of the season at Nottingham Forest last weekend. Mohammed Kudus is also suspended after his dismissal at Tottenham, upgraded to a five-game ban for violent conduct.
Tomas Soucek and Alphonse Areola are doubts heading into the clash with Everton, while Niclas Fullkrug is still several weeks from a return. The Germany international has featured for just 63 minutes in the Premier League this season.
West Ham predicted XI: Fabianski; Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Emerson; Rodriguez, Soler, Paqueta; Bowen, Summerville, Antonio.
West Ham host Everton in the Premier League on Saturday 9th November 2024. Kick-off at the London Stadium is 15:00 GMT.
West Ham vs Everton will not be shown live to a UK audience.
