In a recent report, Dirilis Postasi claimed that West Ham United are showing interest in Galatasaray defender Davinson Sanchez this summer. It has been stated that the Hammers are eyeing a move to bring the former Tottenham Hotspur centre-half back to English football later this year.

Sanchez is having a solid campaign at the Turkish club after putting in a series of impressive performances at the heart of their backline. The 27-year-old has participated in 30 matches for Galatasaray this season, scoring three times and earning two assists in multiple competitions.

The Colombian talent has been a dominant presence inside his half as he is averaging 1.7 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 1.9 clearances per game in the Turkish Super Lig. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from the back based on his pass completion rate of 82.7% in the top tier of Turkish football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at Galatasaray will run out in the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for the Hammers to snap him up on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.

Will Sanchez Be A Decent Option For West Ham United?

Sanchez is a tough-tackling defender who can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team on the defensive end of the field. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and is even proficient at playing his way out from the back.

Standing at 1.87m, the Colombia international is a dominant presence in the air as well. He already knows the Premier League well from his time at Tottenham Hotspur and won’t take much time to settle into life in the English capital if West Ham can devise a way to get him on board later this summer.

We can expect Sanchez to inject more bite and steel into the East London club‘s defence. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting role at the London Stadium in the coming years.

At 27, Sanchez is about to enter his prime which makes him an excellent option for the Hammers to pursue when the transfer window reopens this year.
