West Ham United have found some form in recent weeks under Graham Potter.
The Hammers stunned Arsenal by registering a 1-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium, thanks to Jarrod Bowen’s 44th-minute winner.
West Ham followed that up with a 2-0 success against Leicester City last week at the London Stadium.
Tomas Soucek opened the scoring for the hosts before Bowen’s shot deflected in off Jannik Vestergaard, with the Irons cruising to a comfortable win.
West Ham’s results are slowly improving under Potter, but they remain focused on bringing in attacking reinforcements in the summer.
According to a report from Bild, the East Londoners are showing “serious interest” in Mainz forward Jonathan Burkardt.
The 24-year-old is an academy product of the Bundesliga outfit and was promoted to the first-team in 2018.
He has made 135 appearances across all competitions so far, with 41 goals and 14 assists to his name.
Burkardt has been earning rave reviews with his displays this season, as he has netted 14 goals in 20 Bundesliga games.
West Ham are in need of a quality striker, with Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio sideliend with injury issues.
Burkardt could be smart acquisition for them as he is young and has proven himself in Germany.
The forward has a contract at the Mewa Arena until 2027, but a good fee from the Hammers could convince them to part with their prized asset.
However, they will have to fend off competition from Eintracht Frankfurt and AC Milan who are also keen on the centre-forward.
