West Ham have announced the appointment of John Heitinga as new first-team assistant. The former Ajax manager has joined the club’s coaching staff alongside Mark Robson and Henry Newman. The trio completes David Moyes’ coaching staff for the 23/24 campaign.

John Heitinga most recently held the role of interim head coach at Ajax. The former Netherlands international defender was handed the position in January following the sacking of Alfred Schreuder. During his 22 games in charge, Heitinga guided Ajax to 14 victories, three draws and five defeats. Unfortunately for the 39-year-old, he was sacked on June 1st and was eventually replaced by current boss Maurice Steijn.
