Real Madrid star Aurélien Tchouaméni has this weekend moved to launch a stern defence of teammate and fellow countryman Kylian Mbappé.
This comes amid a fresh wave of criticism being aimed at the summer arrival in Spain’s capital.
Mbappé, for his part, opted against linking up with the France national team for the country’s latest round of Nations League fixtures.
This comes with the 25-year-old fresh off a recent spell on the sidelines through injury.
After Mbappé was spotted enjoying a night out in Sweden on the same night that his France teammates were busy getting the better of Israel this week, however, the frontman was widely accused of a lack of commitment to the cause with Les Bleus.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, the name of his teammate at both club and international level, in turn, was put to the aforementioned Aurélien Tchouaméni.
And Tchouaméni, in his response, made use of the opportunity to launch a stern defence of Mbappé:
“Mbappé’s trip to Sweden? I think we’re overdoing it, we know that when it’s Kylian, it gets blown out of proportion. His love for the France national team no longer needs proving.
“We talked to Mbappé after the match, before the match, so it doesn’t matter where he watched the match. It’s not our problem.“
