‘We’ll see when he’s ready’… Hansi Flick casts doubt over the availability of €150m Barcelona superstar | OneFootball

At a team like FC Barcelona, it is important for every single player to pull their own weight. Until and unless they do so, calamities will continue to strike and weigh the entire side down. For Hansi Flick, this has not been a recurring problem at Barcelona so far due to the efforts of his players.

However, in the previous game against Real Sociedad just before the international break, a glimpse of over dependence was highlighted. With Lamine Yamal absent, Barcelona ended up tasting defeat to La Real at their home ground and returned from that match with no points and a disappointing performance.

Despite still being just 17 years old, Yamal has already become one of the world’s best players. At Barcelona, however, it is beginning to seem like the team’s structure crumbles whenever he is not there to support it with his individual talent and qualities, as was clear to see when he was not starting against CA Osasuna as well.

Unfortunately, he will not be available against Celta Vigo in the upcoming La Liga encounter either. However, as highlighted by SPORT, Hansi Flick has now cast doubt over his availability for the next game as well by giving a rather vague answer when asked about his recovery and when he could be expected to return:

“He won’t play against Celta; we’ll see when he’s ready. What matters most is that when he returns, he’s at one hundred percent.”

However, just before he said this, Flick did mention that while Yamal was important to the team, they are able to cope without him as well, suggesting that the team can adapt to the absence of the €150 million-rated superstar:

“He is very important to us, but we can adapt with other players.”

While there are a few ways that Flick can go about finding alternative options to Lamine Yamal, there is no denying the fact that his influence is massive. With the Catalan giants set to face off against French side Brest in the UEFA Champions League right after this upcoming La Liga fixture, Yamal’s presence or absence could prove to make a big difference.
