West Ham United manager Rehanne Skinner says that her side are aiming to end the campaign on a winning note.

The Hammers have two games remaining and they could yet climb the Barclays Women’s Super League table.

This weekend’s fixture against Leicester City presents West Ham United with the opportunity to draw level on points with their 10th-placed opponents. When speaking in the pre-match press conference, manager Skinner said that her side want to go for maximum points in their last two games and end on a high.

“We want as many points as we can,” Skinner said. “They are close to us, there’s three points in it and if we can take those and we can jump up another spot in the table and finish a little higher, that would be better than where we are now.

“Ultimately, that’s what we’re trying to work on all of the time. These last two games, we want to take six points out of them.”

West Ham United come up against a Leicester City side that remain under the interim management of Jen Foster. Skinner does not see much change from the previous regime and she wants her side to better their performance from the away fixture when the two teams drew 1-1.

She said “I think fundamentally, their principles are still the same and so they’re still trying to work really hard out of possession. Out of all of the teams in the league, they’ve pressed pretty much the highest out of everybody.

“I think a couple of their players have been fantastic for them actually; [Yuka] Momiki and [Jutta] Rantala have had a massive impact on their squad. Those two players have done a really good job for them.

“Transitioning in the middle of the season is never easy, so that can create some of the inconsistencies. We had a really tough game against them before and that was a game where we probably should’ve been 3-0 up at half-time and then ended up getting a late equaliser. We want to make sure we rectify that and start more on the front foot in this one.”
