Dino Toppmöller previewed the upcoming Bundesliga trip to Bayern Munich at Friday’s press conference.
… Eintracht’s chances of success: “We did very well in the corresponding fixture on home soil. The key against Bayern will be to have a good plan, a top performance and a high frustration tolerance against a dominant side, in order to survive periods with little possession that aren’t particularly fun. They’re so good technically that they’re always able to play themselves out of the opposition’s press – you always have to keep at it. If we manage to bring those components to the pitch, we think we can get a point or maybe even more.”
… personnel: “Robin Koch remains out on Sunday. Ellyes Skhiri and Oscar Højlund have returned to training and are options for the starting XI. Mario Götze has been ill yesterday and today. He’ll have to decide himself how he’s feeling tomorrow.”
… tactics: “You need to tinker more than usual because Bayern are a very special side with great players. We need to be prepared to the last detail and have a special game plan, but not only that – we also need to have a good day and momentum on our side. Whether Harry Kane plays or not doesn’t impact our game plan, as that only focuses on our team’s tactics.”
… Bayern Munich: “We’re facing an extremely powerful side, but we travel to Munich in third place and are having a good season. We’ll give Bayern a run for their money and go there with plenty of self-belief. I don’t think Bayern are going through a difficult period at the moment. They’re comfortably top of the table, they progressed in the UCL and also got the result they wanted in Leverkusen [last weekend. We’re playing against a Bayern side who have won their last nine home games [in the Bundesliga] and scored at least three goals on each occasion.”
