Warren Zaire-Emery was one of the bright spots from Paris Saint-Germain’s 4-1 loss to Newcastle United. Despite being 17 years old and playing in a hostile environment, he wasn’t fazed by the big-time match.
Furthermore, Zaire-Emery provided the assist on the lone goal for the French giants as his pass connected with Lucas Hernandez. The Frenchman also made history by assisting in the play.
OptaJean pointed out on Twitter that at 17 years and 210 days, Zaire-Emery became the youngest player to deliver an assist in the European Cup/Champions League with PSG.
Additionally, the midfielder became the youngest in the competition since Jude Bellingham in October 2020 (17 years 121 days old with Dortmund vs. Zenit St. Petersburg) to provide an assist.
Zaire-Emery also shared his thoughts on the loss to Newcastle, which appears to be positive. The teenager isn’t planning on hitting the panic button despite the lopsided result for the Premier League club.
“Worried about the rest of the competition? No, not at all,” Zaire-Emery told Canal Plus. “It’s only the 2nd game match. It’s up to us to do things well to finish first in this group.”
