Walter Benítez undergoes medical at Crystal Palace

Walter Benítez is close to a transfer to Crystal Palace, The Athletic reports. The goalkeeper is out of contract with PSV and is said to have already undergone a medical with the FA Cup winner.

Palace hope to benefit from Benitez’s free agent status, after he failed to reach an agreement with PSV on a new contract. At Selhurst Park, the Argentine would have to compete with Dean Henderson. Benitez was also in the picture at Atletico Madrid last season, but they were unsuccessful in negotiating around PSV’s asking price.

Meanwhile, the Eindhoven team aren’t sitting still. Nick Olij comes over from Sparta Rotterdam and signed a long-term contract with PSV.

Daniel Peretz is also in the spotlight of the Eredivisie champions. The Bayern Munich reserve goalkeeper confirmed last weekend that he was in talks with PSV.
