West Ham are still in talks with Graham Potter to replace Julen Lopetegui as Head Coach.
Despite much anticipation that a deal would be struck today with the former Brighton boss, it appears there are issues to resolve between the parties, with Lopetegui left in limbo during the process.
Club insider ExWHUEmployee has provided an update on the current state of play, with the hope being a deal with Potter will be reached.
“Negotiations are continuing with Potter and Karen Brady, she has been very vocal in the appointment choice with her connections to him from her Birmingham days,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way.
“At the moment though it seems that the club are still determined to get the Potter deal completed but there are concerns he could be having second thoughts.
“The length of the contract for Potter appears to be the main sticking point. West Ham initially offered 6 months due to some doubts over his record but Potter wants longer. Talks are ongoing but the longer this happens the more likely it seems Lopetegui will be in charge on Friday.
“A top source has been asked whether Lopetegui will still be in charge for the Aston Villa game and quite startlingly we got the response back.
“Time will tell I really do not know” which again is all I have to work with. This suggests to me that negotiations are still on going and depend on whether a manager accepts the job.”
