Vinícius & Toni Kroos agree on departing Real Madrid star’s ‘heir’ | OneFootball

The latest social media activity on the part of Real Madrid pair Toni Kroos and Vinícius Jr. has piqued attentions across Spain’s capital.

This comes with the pair having provided their respective takes on the player most suited to take over as the new no.8 in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

Midfielder Kroos of course shook the foundations of Real Madrid to its core on Tuesday, in announcing his decision to hang up his boots this coming summer.

The 34-year-old was widely expected to put pen to paper on another one-year contract extension at the Santiago Bernabéu, with his exit announcement having therefore come as quite the shock.

Messages of gratitude and well-wishes alike have poured in for Kroos over the 24 hours since, with the German having taken some time out to respond to several, too.

And one such response on Kroos’ part has since turned heads more than any other.

This comes with the midfield maestro having seemingly chosen the player whom he intends to pass on his famed no.8 jersey to in Madrid.

The player in question? Federico Valverde.

Closing out a lengthy Instagram message to long-time engine room partner Valverde, Kroos confirmed:

‘Tomorrow we’ll talk about another topic… #8’

And calls for Valverde to inherit Kroos’ number have not stopped there, with another of Real Madrid’s stars, in Vinícius Jr, having added the following in the comments section of the former’s tribute to Kroos:

‘The heir of the 8’
