Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior has spent much of the year subject to intense speculation over his future, but in recent months it had appeared that the matter was resolved. However his camp have leaked that this is not the case.
Vinicius was courted by Saudi Arabia last summer, with the Middle Eastern superpower making their interest known. Talk of a €1b contract for Vinicius split across five years followed, as did rumours of a €300-400m offer for Los Blancos. The Brazilian reportedly met with Saudi officials to discuss a deal too.
Yet doubts about the length of the deal appeared to nudge Vinicius towards a new Real Madrid contract, and reports of an agreement emerging. However Vinicius’ camp have claimed that this is not the case.
The latest from Marca, as gleaned from sources close to the club, is that Vinicius and Real Madrid have made up the ground significantly with regard to a new deal. They say that Vinicius’ initial demand was €30m per season, and Los Blancos do not want to pay him more than €20m per annum – a rise of €3m on his current deal.

Despite the gigantic fees supposedly on offer for Vinicius, the same outlet claim that no formal offer has been put on the table. While there have been discussions, the player’s camp are looking for a formal offer so that they have a bargaining chip in negotiations.
None of this is helped by the fact that Vinicius’ form, albeit a symptom of most Real Madrid players currently, has been on the decline this season. A disappointing showing in El Clasico culminated a season in which Los Blancos’ most decisive player has been Kylian Mbappe by a distance.
