Turkey NT coach and former Roma striker Vincenzo Montella responded to the recent rumors linking him with a return to the Giallorossi.

Prior to Claudio Ranieri’s appointment, the word that went around Rome was that Montella was the first choice candidate to take over the managerial vacancy at the capital club.

However, Montella denied these rumors.

“Of course there is speculation, and to be honest I am happy to hear it,” said the Italian coach in a press conference.

“This means that our players are doing a great job and that there is also speculation around the coach as a result of the team performing well,” he added.

“If you remember a month ago there was talk of the Premier League, while this month there was talk of another league. We are a family and everyone is looking forward to the national team coming so they can spend time together, train and improve.”

“Everyone is looking forward to this moment and it is very nice to experience these moments with them.”

“The rumours about my possible departure? The first people I would talk to would be our president and the head of the Football Federation, but I don’t think too much about it.”
