La Liga outfit Villarreal will be forced to make do without the contributions of an important member of the club’s attacking ranks in their next outing.

That’s if the latest word stemming from the club’s training ground is anything to go by.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, Nicolas Pépé missed training once again on Thursday morning.

The Ivorian is struggling with a muscular issue at present, enough, according to MD, to rule Pépé out of Villarreal’s La Liga meeting with Athletic Club this weekend.

Marcelino has an otherwise strong squad of players to choose from, with long-term absentee Ilias Akomach the only other member of the Yellow Submarine’s ranks not available at present.

Villarreal will play host to Athletic on Sunday evening, in what marks a crucial fixture in the ongoing race for a top-4 berth in Spain’s top-flight.

As things stand, it is the latter who boast the advantage in the table, one place clear of their upcoming hosts.
