Serie A sides like Juventus and Napoli have been linked with a move for Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres in the last few weeks but the idea has now been ruled out.
Gianluca Luca Marchetti, who is generally pretty reliable, spoke to Sky Italia about the Sweden international’s future as he has also been linked with multiple English sides.
He made it clear that a move to Serie A is very unlikely for Gyokeres, who is being chased by Arsenal.
He told the outlet, via TuttoJuve: “Gyokeres-Juve? Mm I think that at this moment the player is destined for other shores. There are figures that are unaffordable for Italian teams. There are other teams after him, especially Arsenal.”
That is no surprise considering the Italian top-flight’s inability from a financial perspective. Even besides that, Juve will have Randal Kolo Muani available during the Club World Cup and they might not need a new striker for the tournament.
Napoli only need back-up strikers and someone like Gyokeres would definitely not just be a squad player. In the tactical sense as well, moving to a club like Arsenal would be more sensible for the Sporting star.
