Viktor Gyokeres finally breaks silence after report claimed he wants Arsenal move | OneFootball

Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has spoken about his future after being linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is keen to bring Gyokeres to the Emirates Stadium (the Mirror), and Correio de Manha (print edition, page 11) say Gyokeres wants the move.

The former Coventry City striker has been in stunning form this season, bagging 41 goals and 15 assists in 47 games in all competitions.

He definitely won’t come cheap, with Fabrizio Romano claiming that Sporting will demand his €100 million (£85m) release clause this summer.

However, it could be argued that the Sweden international is exactly the type of player Arsenal need to reach the truly elite level.

So what does the player himself think about his future – does it lie in Lisbon or North London?

The Sporting striker spoke to reporters after his side won their second league title in the last three seasons under Ruben Amorim.

And he suggested that he cannot promise anything, as quoted by Bola Na Rede:

“It was a good day and we will definitely celebrate,” he said. “Let’s see what will happen – it’s just beginning.

“It’s my first title. I explain the celebration at the end of the season, after the league and cup. Let’s try to win everything.

“Rúben Amorim is a great coach, I wouldn’t mind if he continued (laughs). I had many coaches, but Rúben Amorim brought me here – it was very important in my career.

Thank you Sportinguistas, see you soon. It’s football, I can’t promise anything, I have a contract and I won’t be sad if I stay, I’m very happy, but we’ll see what happens.

“We can’t predict much, but let’s see what next year will be like, we still have games this season.”

It seems like he’s keeping his options open there.

Despite his success in Portugal with Sporting, joining Arsenal is a no-brainer.

The Gunners seem to be on the verge of a period of dominance, and signing a top-class striker could be the big difference-maker for them.
