(Video): “We expect…” – Reece James’ super confident statement about Conference League final | OneFootball

Reece James and Josh Acheampong chatted to TNT Sports after the game tonight after Chelsea earned their place in the Conference League final:

“We’re happy, we’re in another final, but it’s probably something we expected coming into the game. We expect to win the competition as well,” James said in his typical neutral tone.

Acheampong is just happy to be playing regularly in this competition:

“It’s been really enjoyable, a chance to play at Stamford Bridge, and away, it’s been good.”

James on European return to action

Joe Cole was the pundit with the chance to praise them. He asked James how he felt as he re-integrated into the team:

“They’ve been brilliant. Josh has been brilliant, Reece has been coming back into the team through this season. I want to ask you Reece, you seem to be getting better and stronger every time I see you, how important has it been, this run to get back to your best?”

“I enjoy it, I’ve spent a lot of time on the sidelines, and this is probably my longest spell being healthy in probably 2 or 3 seasons, so I’m happy to be playing on a regular basis, helping the team when I can.”

Captain Reece James insists that Chelsea are going the right way

James was also asked about his time with the club, and whether he thought they were on the way back to where they were when he won the Champions League in 2021:

“We’re definitely moving in the right direction. We’re knocking on the door for Champions League next season, we’re in and around it, the table’s tight. I have no doubts, we had a big result against Liverpool, hopefully we can keep that momentum going and finish off the last 3 games strong.”
