Video: Vieira leads first training session in charge of Genoa and Balotelli | OneFootball

Patrick Vieira was straight out onto the training pitch after the confirmation of his appointment as head coach of Genoa on Wednesday, as he oversaw his first session in charge of the Grifone and his old foe Mario Balotelli.

Vieira was officially appointed as head coach of Genoa on Thursday, replacing Alberto Gilardino on a two-year contract.

Much has been made of Vieira’s relationship with the club’s most recent signing, Balotelli, who joined as a free agent under his old teammate Gilardino shortly before the former coach was dismissed.

Vieira and Balotelli have not always enjoyed the smoothest of relationships, and the pair both had harsh words to say about each other following their ‘break-up’ at Nice in 2019.

There were no signs of any conflict though, as the new Genoa coach took charge of his first training session on Wednesday, ahead of the upcoming visit from Cagliari in Serie A.
