Christopher Nkunku was probably expecting to be a star player for Chelsea this season – that’s what he was signed for after all. But his injuries last season and the emergence of Cole Palmer, plus the signing of so many other attacking players, has left him rather buried on the depth chart.
He had to make do with an appearance off the bench in Saturday night’s game, although he made it count by scoring the winning goal. Asked about whether he felt the pressure of having to earn a starting place in Enzo Maresca’s side, the Frenchman responded with exactly the right attitude.
