Chelsea are not in the Champions League this season, but they’ve still got a couple of loanees in action.
While Carney Chukwuemeka takes on Barcelona in Catalonia with Borussia Dortmund, Axel Disasi is facing even tougher opposition in the form of tournament favourites PSG.
The defender was brought on at half time to play at right back, and it took just 3 minutes for him to get torn apart. Kvicha Kvaratskhelia got him square up one on one, and you can imagine how that one ended up.
One sublime stud roll and one lashed finished later and it was 2-1 to the Parisians. You can’t blame Disasi too much. He’s a centre back being played on the right, against one of the best one on one players in the world. Much better players than him would have struggled.

So what do we think of Disasi’s future then? We’re sure Aston Villa’s opinion of him won’t be changed by this one moment. They were probably aware of his limitations before they signed him, and they certainly will be now he
Given he was never in Enzo Maresca’s first team plans this season and was then loaned out, it seems likely we try to sell him permanently in the summer, to Villa or whoever wants to buy him. Considering he cost us an eye-watering €45m back in 2023, it’s hard to see us making any money on him. But if we can get Villa to give us a decent chunk of that back, we will have done well.
While we don’t like seeing him getting skinned, hey – at least he’s playing in a Champions League quarter final. That’s got to be worth something.
