It’s been a busy week for Chelsea – after a restful 9 days, they jetted off to Denmark for Thursday night’s game before returning that night to prepare for tomorrow’s clash against Leicester.
Chelsea TV’s cameras were on hand to capture it all, and as always we tried to pick out some notable moments from the behind the scenes footage.
As always, the shooting training made the best watching. Enzo Fernandez has scored 5 goals this season, adding his latest on Thursday night with a great strike, and he carried that form into training with some gorgeous “shift it and shoot” efforts around the metal wall.
You can see all the action in the clip embedded here:
Enzo Fernandez walks calmly away after putting one in the top corner.
Also highlighted in the training video was Jadon Sancho, who has just 2 goals this season. He was scoring them for fun in this session – he pings one beauty off the crossbar.
He’s got the skills, he just needs to take on more shots. His 0.8 shots per game is only the 10th most in the squad, not nearly enough for a winger, especially while we’re struggling for goals.
He has 3 G/A since October, and he’s got to contribute more than that if he wants to secure his place in the team. He’s only on loan at the moment, with a €30m future fee agreed, but if he wants to stay first choice once talents like Estevao Willian arrives, he will need to be more productive in front of goal.
Unlike Enzo, who is improving his contributions season on season, Sancho is still disappointing despite being a handy player. With Noni Madueke and Mykhailo Mudryk still out and Estevao yet to arrive, this is Sancho’s big chance to show what he can do.
