Bild reports that VfB Stuttgart have rejected Bayern Munich’s first bid for striker Nick Woltemade, as it was well below their valuation.

Bayern’s first bid was worth €40m plus €5m in bonuses, and Stuttgart immediately rejected the bid earlier today as the offer is well below what they would accept for the 23-year-old.

The price that Stuttgart have set, which they would allow Woltemade to leave, would be €80m. The Swabians are in the strongest position when it comes to negotiating with Bayern, as Woltemade still has a contract at the club until 2028, meaning they are in no position to sell.

On top of this, Stuttgart know that Bayern have extra money following their venture in the Club World Cup while the Rekordmeister will also need a stopgap to replace Jamal Musiala, following his injury against PSG.

Both head coach Sebastian Hoeneß as well as sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth are adamant that Woltemade will play for Stuttgart this season. The 23-year-old is expected to return to Mercedestraße for pre-season training later this week.
