Bruno Lage singled out Pedro Neto for his performance against his Benfica side in the last 16 of the Club World Cup.

Chelsea advanced to the quarter finals where they will face Palmeiras after a crazy game in Charlotte, which was suspended for nearly two hours due to adverse weather conditions.

Reece James gave Chelsea the lead with a brilliant free-kick, before Angel Di Maria equalised from the spot after play resumed to force extra time.

Bruno Lage praises Pedro Neto

Chelsea looked like they would see the game out and hold on for a 1-0 win before the suspension came with just five minutes remaining.

However, the Blues dug in and showed great character and resilience and goals from Christopher Nkiunku, Neto and Dewsbury-Hall saw them run out comfortable 4-1 winners.

Neto scored his third goal in three appearances at the Club World Cup and John Obi Mikel believes the Portuguese has got everything.

Lage labelled Neto as one of the best wingers in the world before the game and he singled out the Portugal international for praise after the game.

“We have to understand that we are playing against a good team, in which Pedro Neto was very strong one-on-one,” he told his post-match press conference as quoted by Metro.

Neto now has nine goals and nine assists in 48 appearances in all competitions and has established himself as an important member of the squad, following his £51.4m move from Wolves last summer.

Chelsea complete Jamie Gittens deal

The big news before the game was Chelsea had finally reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for Jamie Gittens.

Chelsea are set to pay up £55m including add ons for the 20-year-old and Gittens is believed to have completed the first part of his medical.

Gittens can’t feature for the Blues at the Club World Cup, and the first glimpse supporters might get of their new signing is against AC Milan or Bayer Leverkusen at Stamford Bridge at the start of August.
